What the ranking is actually made of

Five normalised signals, weighted, summed. The retailer's own star rating, smoothed towards the catalogue mean so a single five-star review cannot outrank a thousand four-star ones, carries the largest share. Review volume on a logarithmic scale carries a smaller one, so a product with ten thousand reviews counts as more established than one with a hundred without swamping everything else.

A third signal is the product's review count as a percentile within its own store, which removes the bias that would otherwise let one high-traffic marketplace fill the entire list. A fourth is recency, decaying on a thirty-day half-life, so a listing first seen this week starts ahead of an identical one from last year. The fifth is an automated listing-quality score covering how completely the listing describes itself.

The whole set is scored across the stored catalogue rather than over a recent sample, which is what makes the order stable between visits: a product moves because its inputs changed, not because a different slice of rows happened to be read.

Whose ratings these are

The ratings and review counts feeding the first three signals are the RETAILERS'. They were read from the store's own product page alongside the price. Dhundo does not collect reviews, does not publish reviews, and does not restate a retailer's rating as though it were one - you will not find a star rating or a review count in the structured data of any page on this site, because a scraped retailer rating is not a review of Dhundo and presenting it as one is the single most reliable way to earn a search-engine penalty.

Using them to order a list is a different act from publishing them as an endorsement, and this page does the first without the second. Where a rating matters to your decision, the store's page is where to read it, with the reviews attached.

What the list is drawn from

The pool is what Dhundo has already read: 3,16,326 stored listings from 124 stores, 38,584 of them sorted into a category, as of the 2026-08-08 data snapshot. A product from a store Dhundo does not cover cannot appear here however popular it is, and neither can one nobody has ever searched for, because it has never been read.

Each card opens a product page listing every store Dhundo has matched for that item with the price each was showing when it was last read. That comparison is the useful part of arriving here: on phones, where matching is most reliable, the typical gap between the cheapest and dearest matched listing was 9.4% in the sample behind our phone guide.
