What supported means

A store is supported when there is a working scraper for it - a small piece of code that knows how that particular site lays out its search results and product pages, and can read a title, a price, an image and a link out of them.

That is a per-store piece of work because no two of these sites are built the same way. It is also why the list grows one store at a time rather than all at once, and why a store can drop out temporarily when it redesigns its site and the scraper no longer recognises the new layout.

The kinds of store covered

The list falls into a few groups. General marketplaces carry almost every category and are usually where a product appears first. Single-brand fashion stores sell only their own label, which makes them the place a specific item is genuinely cheapest or genuinely unavailable. Electronics and mobile specialists carry deep catalogues in one category and often price aggressively against the marketplaces. Grocery, pharmacy and home stores round out the everyday categories.

The three scraper servers exist for capacity rather than category: the more than 130 stores are split across them so a search can fan out in parallel instead of queueing behind one machine.

How often the list changes

Stores are added when a scraper for them is written and tested, which happens in batches rather than on a schedule. A store's listings are refreshed when a search touches that store, so a store nobody has searched recently will show older data than one that is searched constantly.

There is no background job that crawls every store on a timer. This is a deliberate consequence of the design - work happens when someone asks for it - and it is the honest explanation for why two stores in the same result list can have been read at very different times.

Stores that ask not to be read

Some sites disallow automated access in their robots.txt. Dhundo honours that, so those stores do not appear even where a scraper would technically work. That is a choice, not a gap: a store that has asked not to be crawled has been listened to.

Common questions

Can you add a store I use?

Requests are welcome through the contact page. Whether a store can be added depends on whether its site can be read reliably and whether its robots.txt permits automated access - if it disallows crawling, it will not be added.

Why is a store I expected missing from my results?

Either it is not one of the stores currently covered, or it is covered but had nothing matching your query when it was last read, or its scraper is temporarily broken by a site change on their end.

Do stores pay to be listed here?

Not for the ranked order. Sponsored products appear in a labelled strip above the results and as labelled cards at fixed positions inside the results grid, but paying does not move a product up the ranking itself. Every sponsored placement is marked as one.
